So I didn't realize its been a month since my last post. From my last post, I am more positive about my life, whether it be health or otherwise related. I got a part time job at my practicum placement, a HUGE step in the right direction for my career. It feels pretty amazing. I've been getting complimented on my looks more often, which trust me is huge. I always felt like the ugly duckling in my younger years. I guess a little makeup and confidence goes a long way!
Fitness and nutritionally, these things are going through a changeup right now. Touch football started for me, so I will be doing more running around. The weeks are closing in on my 5K and I am nowhere near where I wanted to be, basically because I got way more into my strength training and didn't put the same effort into pushing myself to run. Luckily, my trainer is redeveloping my program and we are going to be doing more high intensity workouts. My weak areas are now so much more improved (my squat is getting awesome, and my posture/back strength is amazing!) and that is going to really help me push through my new program. It will have me achieving more fat loss, which isn't that important but its nice, and I was warned I will have to start being a little more mindful of my nutritional intake. I am already pretty happy with what my body looks like, but if all goes well, I'm going to look like AMAZING, maybe even like a model.
I hope to keep updating my journey more often, life is still busy as hell BUT its more consistent so that is good.
Until next time, peace out!

The Slump and Getting Out of It
It would have been nice to have started on this blog while I was on the top of my fitness game. The weeks where I was hitting the gym 4-5 times a week and was making a good effort to eat healthy. Instead I've been in a slump. The rest of life got in the way.
I can't really be too hard on myself though. But unfortunately I am terribly hard on myself, self-admittedly my worst feature. I've been on my practicum for school for the past couple weeks, working about 35 hours a week on top of my part time job at the Home Depot. No wonder why I haven't had time to hit the gym. The food part is the worst though. Not being used to working so much was (and still kind of is) burning me out. Add that to the fact that I am graduating and will need be pursuing a job in my chosen field, it was just a recipe for disaster. In desperation and stress I turned to all the sweet and carb filled goodies I can find, rather than trying to have decent meals. It only made me feel mentally and physically worse.
I hit a breaking point late last week. All these things running through my mind, an irrational fear of "getting fat" and not being able to reach my fitness goals, I literally curled up in a ball on my bed and cried my eyes out. I wanted to escape, quit my job and move back to my parents house so I could save up money and figure out life.
Thank goodness for my brother coming down during the weekend and making me feel so much better about everything, offering whatever help and advice I needed. Then yesterday at my practicum job, I got offered a chance to stay with the company (which I'm loving working for) on a part time basis. So much relief, I feel like a new person. Yes there is still things that are going to make life a little tough, balancing two jobs and an upcoming touch football season, BUT I feel ready to take it on. :)
I guess there needs to be a point to my rant/story. I would say it is this: Life is fucking stressful, sometimes a little and sometimes a lot. The chances of hitting the absolute rock bottom are so minimal, so there is no reason to ever lose hope. And even if you do hit the bottom, the only way to go is back up!

So This Is Me...
I decided to try this whole fitness/healthy lifestyle blog thing again. I deleted all my old posts, I figured September was WAY too long ago and decided to start new. I want to be honest and share about my goals, my progress, and my setbacks in a hope to inspire or at least entertain a few people.
So I figure I am going to start by just a quick summary of where I am today and what some of my goals are. I am sure to expand on these things later. But for now, read on to get to know me.
My workout routine focuses on strength training and running. I have a trainer, his name is Bryce, and probably the third most important guy in my life (other than my dad and my brother), who I see once a week and can text for advice whenever I want. "Going for runs" still really isn't my thing, but I do it to prepare for a 5K I am doing at the end of June and for my 4th season of touch football (Go Titans!)
For the moment I am really only getting in three days a week, one upper body strength, one lower body strength, and a solid running day. I walk a lot, but I don't really like to count that. When I have a little more time, I hope to be back at the gym or out on runs 5 or 6 times a week.
First, I am going to start with one of those photos showing off my bod, not to be vane or try to convince you I'm overweight or anything (I know I'm not). Its just to give some context and to track my progress.
